As we turn the page on 2024, I want to take a moment to share a heartfelt thank you for being with us on this incredible journey. This year, like the vintages we've cherished, has been one of trials, joy, and shared successes.
Together, we've embarked on an adventure in winemaking, elevated by our partnership with the masterful team at Atelier Melka. But our heart lies in our land, where for the last 15 years, our dedicated farmers have lovingly tended to Annadel Gap Vineyard, embracing Biodynamic and Organic practices to nurture the earth and the vines. It's with immense gratitude and warmth that we present to you these two special wines from the 2019 and 2021 vintages. They are not just bottles, but stories of our collective passion and hard work, bottled for you to enjoy. Thank you for being part of our story, and here's to many more glasses shared together.

About the Wine | 2021 marks our fourth year collaborating with renowned winemakers Philippe Melka and Maayan Koschitzky to craft the Twenty-One Rhône Red. This Syrah-dominant blend, inspired by the exceptional terroir of our Annadel Gap Vineyard, embodies the vision behind our family-owned winery. Westwood’s Founding Partner, Carl Stanton’s, dream was to produce wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côte-Rôtie caliber, and the Twenty-One is a testament to that aspiration.
Winemaking | The fruit was hand-harvested at night, hand-sorted, and fermented in a closed-top stainless-steel tank. With an average of 20% whole clusters, it remained 14 days on the skins, then basket pressed and aged in 100 % French oak barrels for 20 months - 75% new oak, 25% 1-2 years old.
Tasting Notes | Dark purple with an almost opaque edge, the 2021 Twenty-One Red shows cracked black pepper, crushed violets, blackberry and a whiff of smoked bacon. The wine's full body matches its lifted aromatics with a ripe, viscous, supple, and velvety texture. Rounded in mouthfeel and long on the finish with an evocative spice. A wine that can be consumed now and will age for another 18-20 years.
About the Wine | The exceptional 2019 vintage provided us with stunning fruit from our prized Estate block of Clone 667 Pinot Noir. Philippe created this limited clonal series, which also resonated with the critics. Originating from the Côte-d’Or region of Burgundy, France, Clone 667 is renowned for its small clusters, deep color, intense flavor, and robust tannin structure. Thriving in our cool climate estate, this clone offers a pure expression of Pinot Noir.
Winemaking | The grapes from our 667 Pinot Noir clone were hand-harvested at night, hand-sorted, then tank fermented in open-top stainless steel and oak uprights. Averaging 10% whole clusters, it remained on skins for 16 days, then basket pressed and aged in French oak barrels for a total of 18 months- approx.45% new oak,55%2-3 years old oak.
Tasting Notes | Incredible ripe cherries, strawberries, exotic spices and blood orange soar from this layered wine that displays no hard edges, with ultra-fine tannin and great persistence in the finish. Charming and elegant while also displaying the easy accessibility of this vintage. Savor every sip of this wine now until 2032 and beyond.
