Classic profile of strawberry, black cherry, cola, and deep red rose petal with a fresh sappy balance, underbrush and eucalyptus. Baked cranberry and plum yield to toffee and dark chocolate, coffee bean, and baking spices. Full and weighty, yet brightly counterbalanced with floral and spring rain notes.
The Annadel Gap Vineyard is a special place. Located between Mt. Hood and the Sonoma Mountains, our site is characterized by thick morning fog and strong afternoon winds. Alluvial, glacial, and sedimentary influences create a wide array of soil types. The Calera clone was hand-harvested at night and arrived at the winery by daybreak. The fruit was hand sorted and fermented individually. 6 days cold soak, gentle punch downs 1-3 times daily, 15 days on skins & gently basket pressed. Gravity fed to French oak barrels (50% new). Aged 16 months on lees, gently fined, bottled unfiltered.
