Typically used to inject a juciy acidity into our Legend blend, the 2018 Mourvèdre is a stand-out in its own right. Beautiful notes of cassis, rosemary, sage, crushed violets and black cheeries. This vintage expresses a rich, polished mouthfeel and a refined tannin structure. A wine that pairs equally with pepperoni pizza and roasted leg of lamb.

92 Points | International Wine Report

The 2018 Westwood Estate Mourvèdre begins with incredible fresh inviting aromatics of red berries, blueberries, and blackcurrants which are laced with spring florals, lavender, dark chocolate, tar, crème de cassis, and dried herbs, with underlying hints of black olives and exotic spice notes adding another level of complexity. On the palate this is full-bodied and beautifully concentrated, with remarkable over balance and poise. It shows a gorgeous fresh character, with a beautifully plus and layered mouthfeel that glides effortlessly into the long, powerful finish. Simply put, this is delicious in its youth, and should also age incredibly well for many years to come.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The Annadel Gap Vineyard is a special place. Located between Mt. Hood and the Sonoma Mountains, our estate is characterized by thick morning fog, and strong afternoon winds. Alluvial, glacial, and sedimentary influences create a wide array of soil types. Ideal growing conditions, varied soils, and our minimal-impact farming methods yield precise, balanced fruit.
Production Notes
The fruit was hand-harvested at night, hand-sorted and fermented in an open-top tank. Six days cold soak, gentle punch downs 1-3 times daily, average 20 days on skins and gently basket pressed. Gravity fed to French oak barrels (75% new). Aged 19 months, then bottled unfiltered.
