Made from five of the very best barrels of Pinot Noir from the Westwood Estate in the 2018 vintage, the 2018 Founder's Reserve Pinot Noir is incredibly seductive, with a nose of heirloom rose and fresh raspberry. On the palate, it evolves into wild blueberry and black-cherry truffle, joined by hints of potting soil. Decadent and inviting, with silky tannins, excellent balance, and a long, delicious finish.

94 Points | Wine Enthusiast

A hearty, robust and complex reserve-level wine, this wine is brawny in black fruit and firm tannin, with a focused structure. Black tea and forest contribute enduring earthiness and a contrast to the rich layers of dense fruit.

98 Points | Tasting Panel

The 2018 Pinot Noir Estate Reserve comes the Annadel Gap Vineyard located in the Sonoma Valley AVA and was 90% destemmed and brought up in 60% new French oak. It's a bigger, richer wine offering lots of redcurrant and black raspberry fruit, plenty of spice, sappy flowers, and forest floor, nuanced, medium to full-bodied richness, ripe tannins, and a great finish. A beautiful, complete, elegant wine from this label, it will be even better this time next year and keep through 2030.

93 Points | Jeb Dunnuck

From a cooler estate vineyard in the Sonoma Valley, the 2018 Pinot Noir Founder's Reserve Annadel Gap Vineyard is a charming, endearing, already complex Pinot with pretty red and black fruits, forest floor, spice, and dried flower-like aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied and elegant, it's ideal for drinking over the coming 4-6 years, if not longer.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Packed with a bouquet of sweet black raspberry, licorice, roasted mushrooms and baking spices, a premier release of Westwood Estate Pinot Noir, the very best barrels selected by our winemakers Philippe Melka and Maayan Koschitzky.
Vineyard Notes
The Annadel Gap Vineyard is a special place. Located between Mt. Hood and the Sonoma Mountains, our site is characterized by thick morning fog and strong afternoon winds. Alluvial, glacial, and sedimentary influences create a wide array of soil types. Ideal growing conditions, varied soils, and our biodynamic, organic, and minimal-impact farming methods yield precise, balanced fruit.
Winemaker Notes
Hand-harvested at night, the fruit was sorted then fermented with 10% whole clusters. 6 days cold soak, gentle punch downs 1-3 times daily, 19 days on the skins, gently basket pressed to French oak barrels (60% new). Aged for 18 months then bottled unfiltered.
