Honoring the twenty-first vintage from our Biodynamically certified Annadel Gap Vineyard and representative of our very best Syrah, Mourvedre, and Grenache, this is the third vintage of our proprietary Estate Red Blend. Twenty-One marks a milestone for our Winery and our collaboration with Philippe Melka. Unfiltered, with minimum intervention, Twenty-One shows layers of lavender, dried roses, white pepper, and savory notes, the wine is full-bodied with fine, rounded tannins and finishes with great length and explosive perfume.

94 Points | Jeb Dunnuck

"Based mostly on Syrah with 14% each of Grenache and Mourvèdre, the 2019 Twenty One Annadel Gap Vineyard Red Blend is a beautiful effort offering ample darker berry fruits, notes of cracked pepper, minty herbs, and bacon fat, medium to full body, a great mouthfeel, and ripe tannins that come through on the finish. It’s another incredibly impressive wine from this label that offers loads of pleasure, as well as being impeccably made." -Jeb Dunnuck

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Displaying cool climate attributes of crushed granite, smoked bacon, and blackberries, the 2019 benefits from an increase in whole cluster from the Syrah and just the right amount of new French oak barrels. Full-bodied, seamless, and showing perfect balance now, but the structure to age another 15 years.
Vineyard Notes
The Annadel Gap Vineyard is a special place. Our site is characterized by thick morning fog and strong afternoon winds. Alluvial, glacial, and sedimentary influences create a wide array of soil types. Ideal growing conditions, varied soils, and our minimal-impact farming methods yield precise, balanced fruit.
Production Notes
Each cluster was hand-harvested at night and hand-sorted, then the Syrah and Grenache lots were fermented individually in open-top tanks and the Mourvèdre in French oak puncheons. Averaging 30% whole clusters and a three-day cold soak, the wine remained on skins for 19 days, then basket pressed and aged in French oak barrels for a total of 18 months - approx. 65% new oak, 35% 2-3 years old oak.
