2021 Westwood Pivot Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
We proudly unveil a masterpiece of precision and power: the 2021 Pivot Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Transcending the traditional Napa Valley Cabernet, this release is the definitive culmination of a 28-year journey dedicated to understanding the nuances of the land, elevating our craft, and relentlessly pursuing excellence. As a landmark achievement nearly three decades in the making, The Pivot stands as the quintessential expression of our premier vineyard partners and a profound testament to our winemaking heritage. While its palate-coating richness makes it undeniably seductive today, this is a wine intentionally crafted for longevity. An uncompromising approach to structural integrity—highlighted by 40% whole cluster fermentation for savory complexity and an extended 22 days of skin contact—forges a formidable, architectural backbone. This intensity is elegantly polished by 26 months of careful aging in 100% new French oak, seamlessly integrating threads of toasted spice and vanilla into a dense core of dark fruit. The result is a wine of extraordinary depth and poise. A historic milestone that honors our past while setting a new benchmark for our future, this exceptional vintage is captivating to enjoy now, yet possesses the formidable structure to be responsibly cellared for the next 30+ years.

“This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from Keller Yountville Vineyard on State Lane in the Yountville AVA and the Alsace Vineyard near the city of Napa. Grapes are hand-harvested at night, hand-sorted, and separated into lots, then fermented individually in stainless steel tanks and a French oak upright tank with 40% whole cluster and an average of three days cold soaking with up to 22 days on skins. Aged 26 months in 100% new French oak. It is a deep ruby colour. Fragrant dark berry fruit is laced with green tobacco, white pepper and earthy minerals. Full-bodied and framed by intensely powerful tannins that are palate-coating with a pin-point fineness. More mineral and woodsy notes linger on the extended finish. Just 100 cases were produced.
