2021 Westwood Legend Proprietary Red Blend, Sonoma County
2021 marks the sixth annual release of this show-stopping Cabernet-driven red blend created by Rockstar winemakers Philippe Melka & Maayan Koschitzsky. Dark ruby in color with obsequious fragrances of dark chocolate, black currant, cigar box, and Bing cherries. On the palate, firm age-worthy tannins are underscored by notes of rich berry flavors, with good natural acidity providing length and freshness. The power of Cabernet Sauvignon complements perfectly the expressions of the Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre in this deliciously hedonistic wine.

"A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Syrah. The Syrah comes from Westwood's 14.9ha biodynamically farmed estate Annadel Gap Vineyard, while the Cabernet comes from organic and sustainably farmed sites in Sonoma County and Napa Valley. The wine lots were fermented in stainless steel tanks and a French oak upright tank, with an average of 25% whole clusters, spending up to 2 days cold soaking and 14 days on skins and aged 20 months in 70% new French oak barrels. It's terrifically savoury with meaty, robust tannins. Notes of black cherry and cassis are infused with incense, leather, and white pepper, with fresh underbrush and deep forest fern character. Those palate-etching tannins are firm and resolve with crushed stone mineral and saline notes through the long finish.”

"The 2021 Westwood Legend from the renowned winemaking team of Philippe Melka & Maayan Koschitzsky is a blend composed of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, with small amounts of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. It begins with aromas of plums and black cherries that are woven together with sweet baking spices, mocha, and hints of cedar. On the palate this is full-bodied with a round velvety mouthfeel that is underlined by a lovely touch of acidity taking it into the finish. This is a lovely wine to approach immediately and also should offer a decade long drinking window."
